Why an empty reviews page exists at all
Because the alternative is the thing this site was built against. Search for septic help in Island Park and you will find template pages wearing five-star badges that no verifiable human ever wrote. A new site has exactly one chance to set a different standard from day one, in public, before the first review arrives — this page is that standard, written down where anyone can hold it against what eventually appears here.
The rules every future review meets
- A real person, verifiably helped. The reviewer contacted this site, was introduced to a contractor, and can confirm it — no review without a traceable interaction behind it
- Disclosed relationship. Every review states what the reviewer asked for and when; any material connection beyond "was helped once" is disclosed in the review itself or the review does not run
- Unedited words. Reviews run as written, minus personal contact details; critical reviews are not filtered out
- Never bought. No payment, discount, or favor in exchange for a review — from either direction, reader or contractor
- Dated. Every review carries the date it was given, the same way every fact on this site carries the date it was checked
The standard is federal, not house policy
These rules are not generosity — they restate what the Federal Trade Commission's Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255, most recently revised in 2023) already require of anyone publishing endorsements. The FTC's own words on hidden relationships:
